Croft appointment helps Stockport County raise their game

The transfer window may be closed until January but Stockport County’s commercial department has made a key signing by appointing Croft PR (Croft) to handle its local and regional media relations activity.

Working closely with managing director, Mark Maguire, and commercial manager, Martin Booker, Croft’s Stuart White has been handed a brief to help raise awareness of the club’s off-field activity as the Edgeley Park outfit takes steps to improve its offering to both local and regional businesses and within the wider local community.

In making the appointment, Maguire is confident that he has found the right company to help raise the profile of the club with the appropriate audiences. He explains: “This is the first time Stockport County has ever appointed an external public relations agency and it isn’t a decision we have taken lightly.

“However, Croft’s track record speaks for itself and with local businesses such as Everydayprint, Alexander Windows and our shirt sponsors, Just Search, having already benefited greatly from Stuart’s brand of media relations, we were very much aware of how good a job Croft can do.

“Having discussed our aims and objectives with Stuart, the proposal subsequently put to us was compelling and demonstrated a complete understanding of our brand values and what we hope to achieve at Stockport County.”

Long-standing County fan, Stuart (38), is confident that he can help both the commercial and community teams at Edgeley Park to increase awareness of their respective offerings. He comments: “Stockport County is a fantastic brand and with the current regime being totally committed to ensuring that the club does things properly both on and off the field, the time is right to shout about how great it is to be involved with this football club.

“Everyone at Edgeley Park can see how Mark and his team are starting to deliver on the promises that were made when the Trust took over in 2005. However, if Stockport County is to truly realise its tremendous potential, more people have to be made aware of the improvements in the club’s commercial and community-based offerings.

“That is where Croft comes in and I’m very much looking forward to helping the club demonstrate its increasing professionalism to a wider audience.”
